[Bug 163567] Re: Ipod nano mounted as read-only

I'm having this problem too, again. It did work when I first mounted it today, but then suddenly it was read-only on the next mount. On 10.04. dosfsck returns this for /dev/sdb: dosfsck 3.0.7, 24 Dec 2009, FAT32, LFN Too many clusters (1982207) for FAT16 filesystem. It doesn't change

Note, running dosfsck does not resolve the issue for me. Running it on a 2GB Nano located at /dev/sdc results in: dosfsck 3.0.7, 24 Dec 2009, FAT32, LFN Logical sector size (2 bytes) is not a multiple of the physical sector size. and the device remains read-only. -- Ipod nano mounted as

I've got a similar experience with my iAudio U3 on Ubuntu 10.04. I've just done a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 having used Ubuntu 8.04 until today. Problem: Can not write to portable usb music player. Did work in Ubuntu 8.04. Output from 'mount' command: /dev/sdb on /media/IAUDIO type vfat

Solved the problem with 'dosfsck -a -w /dev/sdb'. Why this vfat file system error only created problems in the 10.04 and not 8.04 might be some kind of better and more fine grained vfat support exposing the problem in 10.04. Me wild-guessing. Everything is running happily ever after for my

I had a similar problem with a sansa e280. after running the commands, I saw that the drive was mounted as rw, even though it would not allow me to write to it. the problem comes and goes. The problem seems to go away if I leave my computer off for extended periods of time. -- Ipod nano
