It seems to me that gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg was already installed in 9.04
either by the 1st time setup or by one of the regular updates. I think I
did not do it. However, what I want to inform here is that with 9.04
which follows regular updates installation of ffmpeg either by sudo apt-
get or Synapt
I used the medibuntu repository, installed:
http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/mplayer.html

You have to use mplayer (or smplayer) to play your files. Cheers!
My file info:
$ ffmpeg -i MOV
Same on Ubuntu amd64 9.04, doesn't work with Sony Ericsson w810i codec,
whereas the realplayer works

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04?
Thanks in advance.

The video plays fine, but the audio does not. I played it back with
totem, but gstreamer is obviously the culprit here -- yet the real bug
may be that the automatic codec installation doesn't work.

Thank you for reporting this bug. I am not able to reproduce this and I
am not aware of what video player you used to play it. The video played
fine with totem and if i recall correctly the plugin for gstreamer that
handles this codec is in the gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg package. Please
install that pack
