I just finished testing x86 daily build from:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/xubuntu/daily-live/current/
Dated 21-Feb-2008 23:09
Which seems to work well. I tested the daily build from earlier in the
day, and it was only ~460mb versus this iso which is ~610mb. Previous

Any news on this? I'm a bit reluctant to waste anymore CDs until I'm
sure it's fixed.

Are the alternate CDs broken too, or just the liveCDs? Also, why are
daily builds still being released when they're clearly broken? And how
hard is it to make sure that the CDs actually have the xubuntu-desktop
package installed?? (Or is the problem more complicated than that?) I
don't mean to sou
Oh, and @jerrylamos
Yes, I've confirmed there is no xfce installed.
'sudo aptitude show [insert package relating to xfce4/xubuntu]'
Then look at the section that says 'Installed' or 'Not Installed.'

Yeah, this is really bugging me too. I'm working on an Xubuntu-based
distro called 'Macbuntu,' but every time I've downloaded a non-Alpha 3
iso for the last week or so it's had this problem (and I actually have
been looking for Alpha 4 since what was supposed to be release day...
nothing...).

Any way to tell when they will have something worth downloading?
Today's 20080207 just gets a brown screen. Terminal still works, is
there any way to query if there is xfce or afaik?
Thanks, Jerry

Xubuntu daily-live builds still seem to be broken. They don't ship any
xfce package afaik, that's why you can't get anything after gdm. ;(

Latest Xubuntu CD Live Hardy Alpha 4 build 20080206 after "starting

Nothing else. Ever.
Ctrl-Alt-F1 displays:

So I did sudo halt, tried earlier Hardy Alpha build:

As of 7:27 am eastern standard time the Xubuntu Daily Build hasn't
changed since yesterday's 20080205 build which fails. Same md5sums as
the .iso which fails. Is there a more current .iso?
Thanks, Jerry

Sure. I do an rsync which usually runs pretty quickly:
rsync -avzpPv --stats rsync://cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/xubuntu/daily-
live/current/hardy-desktop-i386.iso .
plus md5sum compare of course.
That's from daily-live current; if there's an iso somewhere else let me
know. This is U.S. eastern
Xfce packages have been moved to universe since, and there are some issues with
the daily builds now. Could you retry with a more recent iso (for example
tomorrow build as soon as it's available)?
Thanks.
