Thanks for taking the time to look into it Rik. I can confirm it was
user error. I am still getting used to kde/plasma after years with
gnome/XFCE.
For the record (in case others come across this bug in the future):
1. After a reboot, krfb will be running as a daemon in the background.

It launches here ok for me. I don't use this, so not sure what/where the
configs are saved, but might be useful to see if it still fails to
launch if they are deleted.
Note: Possibly not related, but roughly in the timeline you have, krfb
rebuilt against new pipewire (transition) landed.
