The "Protocol error" is bug 1965563. There's a debug feature you can enable to check for sure how much of the screen is changing: Add CLUTTER_PAINT=damage-region to /etc/environment. It will show you what if anything is causing gnome-shell to keep redrawing. -- You received this bug notification
