My problem is been solved. Just installed linux-ubuntu-modules and linux-restricted-modules corresponding to my kernel. somehow they didn't get installed when the kernel changed :( now, wireless works with full encryptions -- IPW2200 fails to connect to access point

Tuomas, did you bu any chance install Virtualbox-ose latelly? I did, and that one pulls in the 386 kernel (due to Bug #188579) ... I removed it again, but looks like something damaged the firmware... I now reinstalled the linux modules, image and headers and it looks like the firmware errors is

I'm using synaptics, and that one also adds the 386 image :-) only aptitude does not... About the remaining bug... I have now removed the WPA from my wireless, and it is still hidden. I can now connect to it. As soon as I turn WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption it will not connect anymore. So now

I'll rather wait for somekind of an update, to see the problem solved. My other laptop uses IPW3945 intel card so cannot take encyptions off from my wireless router, so can't reproduce your symptoms :( Though still would like to know why the kernel changed from generic to -386 I'm using 64bit on
