Well it doesn't for me, works fine in 2.6.24.11 but not in 2.6.24.12. Looking at System PreferencesKeyboard Shortcuts Alt+F2 when I try to manually configure it with the same key sequence converts to Alt+0xd4. Could be an issue with the my model of keyboard which is New Apple Keyboard, but this

1. Keyboard brand: Apple Keyboard Model: MB110LL/A (wired usb) Within Ubuntu it is set to Generic 105-key, setting to Apple results in the same issue - kernel 2.6.24.11 this was not an issue keyshortcut worked properly under Generic 105-key. I included the requested logs in the attached zip

Found the issue - the 'fn' key on my MB110LL/A Apple Keyboard which is used (by default in OSX, but not in Windows or Ubuntu) in conjunction with the optional functions of the F1-F4 as well as F7-F12 has to be held down at the same time while keying in the Alt+F2 to act as a proper Alt+F2 command
