Same error here on a desktop PC. I'm not sure, if it's fault of pulse-
audio, but sometimes no sound is heard, and the cpu gets very slow.
When I check the processes with "top", I see that "artsd" is running
like 100 times at same time. It looks like it is respawn somehow. After
a while, my system
please dont close because it's actually still happening on my laptop
with same sound cards!

I upgraded my kernel to -12, installed the pulseaudio debugging
packages, and ran gdb. Unfortunately, since pulseaudio wouldn't
terminate, the 'tee' never actually flushed output to the file. I
copy/pasted into a separate buffer. In the attachment you can see the
first invocation and then the secon
2.6.24-11 is known-broken for audio. Please reproduce this symptom with
2.6.24-12.
