gprs was not supported by NM. Its now in NM 0.7 which is available in
intrepid or my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~asac/+archive) for hardy.
Take care that the PPA version isnt officially supported and sometimes I

I have the same problem. Network Manager 0.6.6 (at ubuntu hardy)
connects to internet using GPRS/UMTS (My modem: Huawei E220, HSDPA-
uppgraded) but the tray icon indicates a warning sign with "!" and
displays mouseover text "No network connection". Internet applications

after dialing the device is up, but the network manager applet still

Looking at plog and knowing the status of the connection attempt is a bit
tedious.
Also since nm doesn't set the status as connected, epiphany, evolution etc
startup in offline mode.

Also, since Network Manager believes that it is offline, VPN connections
are disabled, and unusable.
I'm using KPPP to connect... perhaps that is related.

i don't think that this is a duplicate. detecting online/offline works
with all other network types, but network manager does not use it for
gprs/umts/ppp connections.
