In Windows Server 2008, setting a share to be NFS, is as easy as SMB.
However, in Intrepid, mounting the NFS is not so intuitive. I would
argue in favor of keeping the client as easy to configure as the
server...

nfs is not something most desktop users are setting up and which will be
added to the current tool, you can still run share-admin though who is
the tool which was used before, it has no menu entry but is still
installed

FYI - I played with Kubuntu 8.04 briefly on my son's computer yesterday,
and noticed that it DOES have NFS has an option when you enable Sharing.
Why would this have still been included there, but left out of Ubuntu
8.04?

I also think the option of NFS should be available in Hardy Heron for
sharing folders. I have multiple linux machines, and I would prefer to
network them and share files using linux methods and protocols.

I think I should clarify something. When you initially go to share a
folder a prompt comes up to install SAMBA. This is probably sufficient
for most people, as most are operating in a *nix/Windows environment.
In Gutsy you could choose SMB or NFS. In Hardy you are only given the
SMB option. The
