activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If

This problem seems to persist on 10.4, I'm having it on a Sony Vaio
VPCS111FM. I tried all those tricks that are posted across various
bugs/questions/posts, but nothing helped.
I can provide additional debugging information, but as per #22, it

I installed Jaunty first on my HP TouchSmart 300Z computer and only got
sound from my headphones. I followed so many stories regarding fixes for
this issue and none of them were successful. I do appreciate all the
hard work but most of the bugs reported are for sound on laptops. This

I think they are not trying to fix this bug It still hasn't been
fixed on mine, and the last messages are not responded
Besides, I think this place is not the place to report bugs anymore, see

I updated to the newer kernel (2.6.27) via installing ubuntu 8.10 alpha

live-cd, the speakers were emitting sporadic

heard via the speakers, and the sound
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the

appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

is really going on is that ubuntu is mixing up my headphone jack and
speaker outputs.
With options snd-hda-intel model=auto set in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:
When I plug my headphones into the headphone jack, it believes

sound except through headphones. I've gone through and followed all the
instructions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449. I've
had this issue ever since I got this computer and installed 7.04 on it.
