I have tested on a fresh Hardy system where I can confirm the problem
and on a -proposed system where i can confirm the fix.

I see a very similar effect in Writer. I had some text that mixed the
symbol font with Arial in a single line. The text included German
Umlauts รค, etc. These were corrupted (other characters were displayed)
when also the symbol font was used in the same line.
I am running Hardy 8.0.4 with the

Ok, now I understand. I think I produced the PDF after I changed to ODS
after loading and made the 'L' Arial again. Otherwise I assume my pdf
will look the same as yours.
Is there already an estimate when the next upload will happen. Do I get
the fix automatically or is there a way to get it
