machine that the bug was observed on. After a few months of not being
able to live boot Ubuntu to create a dual-boot environment. I replaced
that machine in early 2009 and donated it mid 2009 to someone who could
not afford to buy
sixdrift, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

is having the exact same problem and getting the error:
init: rc- default main process( 5304) terminated with status 255
Which leaves me to believe that this is not directly related to the
video card, however something

Confirmed that the removal of the video card got past the reported
problem. Switched back to on-board video and was able to get further

So it now gets to login screen, then screen goes black and spinning wait

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
I have no PCI express on the board. I will recheck all BIOS settings
when I get back to the machine in a few days but when I checked before,
I saw nothing that gave me hope as to a BIOS setting problem.
