I do not have a dell laptop. It also happens in my non-laptop computer,
and every machine I have (3).
I think it may have something to do with using more than one keyboard
(laptops always have one integrated)

if you have a dell latitude laptop, change your Xkbmodel to "latitude"
in xorg.conf, or use evdev instead
