Tried suggested echos with 8.10. For me this wont fix anything. I can deactivate the tablet with \x00, but \x03 does not seem to have any effect on the behaviour. Also, to mention, I just saw that kernel module wacom isn`t even loaded. restarting hal does nothing. restarting X11 does nothing.

FYI, the current production-level driver on linuxwacom is now 0.8.03, released on 2008-05-24. There are several additions and improvements, and early testing with the Intrepid Ibex kernel seems to be giving good results. Also, check the Wacom entry and the other input sections under xorg.conf.
