closing the openjdk-6 task as won't fix. we don't have an adobe air
package in the distro, afaik.
you may want to check out newer openjdk-6 builds (6b11 in hardy-updates
or 6b12 in intrepid)

I believe the problem was with Adobe AIR working with my package
manager. For a while after I had this uninstall problem, apt-get would
tell me that there were problems with [Adobe AIR program that I
is this reproducible with 6b10 in intrepid (or with the b10 build from
the openjdk PPA)?

Hmm...I do not know what you mean by intrepid.
And actually, I switched off Aptana, in favor of FlexBuilder, and had to
install sun-java6-jdk (6-06-0ubuntu1) for it. I removed OpenJDK and I
have not had a problem since then, even in Aptana.
