OK, this can now be closed I guess. The latest update today, updated the
various kernal bits to 2.6.24-19-generic, and there no longer appears to
be any problem.

OK, I've just confirmed for myself that even though I'm now running the
2.6.24-18-generic kernel, I'm still seeing it. My laptop is a HP
Pavilion DV 1737 TU (a variant of the DV1000). I bought it in December
2006 in Australia.
As mentioned I first starting seeing this behavior in 7.10, however,
I can not confirm this issue:
MY TC1100 is running the same:
acpid 1.0.4-5ubuntu9
gnome-power-manager 2.22.1-1ubuntu4
pm-utils 0.99.2-3ubuntu9
powermanagement-interface 0.3.18
powermgmt-base 1.29build1
When running gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager 21 | tee
/tmp/gconftool.log' I also
I can not confirm this issue:
MY T42p is running the same:
acpid 1.0.4-5ubuntu9
gnome-power-manager 2.22.1-1ubuntu4
pm-utils 0.99.2-3ubuntu9
powermanagement-interface 0.3.18
powermgmt-base 1.29build1
When running gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager 21 | tee
/tmp/gconftool.log' I also
I could not confirm this as a bug -- used a TC100 and T42p to try and
replicate the error. The TC1100 only had the -18 and -16 kernel, but did
not replicate. The T42p had the -18 -17 -16 kernels and I was unable to
replicate this on any of those kernels. The other programs listed in
