yes, it does with no problems since it is connected straight into a usb port of the pc NOT into a usb powered hub. I did not do any win driver extraction - as a matter of fact I do not (I mean the system) even have /etc/share/sane/snapscan file. the hardy file system is exactly as provided by

since last post - this scanner was connected to a PC USB port NOT to a powered usb hub from a pc port and it works without a problem. the only thing I can think of is that the usb hub reseting after removing online a usb device is not consistent or the same as removing a usb device from a PC
