I can confirm this behaviour on Jaunty Jackalope alpha6, likewise on an
X30, and likewise Gutsy Gibbon worked on this machine. I've never run
Hardy on this machine, though.
I'm afraid I don't see anything that looks even remotely relevant in the
logs... presumably that means it locked up before
If it helps any, adding noacpi to the boot options appears to resolve
the issue.

That makes it better, but it still froze eventually. Going to enable
Magic SysRq to see if I can get some info.

I have a thinkpad X30 that was working perfectly with Ubuntu 6.06. When
I upgraded the distribution to Ubuntu 8.04 it begun to freeze after a
few moments of working and it is totaly nonresponsive(ie. I could only
restart by the power button).
I still have a previous kernel (2.6.15-53-386) on
