Hi! I have the same problem in Intrepid beta, but Impress doesn't ignore
the effects, it just crashes. I tried installing the first version of
the package openoffice.org-ogltrans from Hardy, and Impress doesn't
crash, but doesn't display the transitions either. I'm using a Dell
Inspiron 1525 with a

It appears that opengl slide transitions are disabled on upstream's
version so this is likely to be something relating to ooo-build.

Another confirmation of this problem. The 3D effects are ignored, it
just jumps to the next slide without any effect, no matter which of the
3D effects I choose.
Ubuntu 8.04.1 with OpenOffice.org 2.4

I can confirm same problem. Tested on four systems using Ubuntu 8.04
64-bit 2.6.24-21-rt / 2.6.24-21-generic and GPU from Intel, ATI and
nVidia. I have also tried to force OpenGL using environment variables in
the /usr/bin/soffice-start script with no luck.
