I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

Confirming what Dave Abrahams describes: playing video with fglrx and
compiz enabled crashes the server -- after a while. No instant crash,
most of the time after some seconds.

No time to reproduce it today and get a backtrace, but I can confirm the
bug (or something very like it) is still present on Intrepid. I am
running fglrx + compiz, and if I play enough video in that configuration
Xorg will reliably crash... eventually.
I'm reopening this bug so that you'll bug
i have this trouble in interpid whithout compiz. It dissapeared after
driver update to last version in repository, but when enable compiz
video picture have horizontal blinked lines.

Those warning messages are normal.
Since there seems to not be evidence of crashing, closing the bug. If
people are able to reproduce the crash, collect a full backtrace

i had installed another fglrx-driver, 8.11 (8.55) but errors like (WW)
AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23 still presents in
xorg.log

I've just uploaded a new 8.543 version of -fglrx to Intrepid which now should
work with xserver 1.5. Would you mind testing this new version and reporting
back whether this issue is still present? If it is, it would be helpful if you
could (re-)post your Xorg.0.log from
9.8 version of driver. The same errors still exists.

So... if make aiglx disabled in xorg.conf DRI not load and videocard
works slow (scrolling with breakouts).
P.S. Guys, could you tell me for somebody who can fix bugs in that damn
driver?

well.. finally i had install fglrx and had add params from this page
http://www.compiz.org/ATI to my xorg.conf.
Errors in xorg.log are the same.
Driver is 8.8 version.

I found a few files in /lib/linux-restricted-

but not any
so i found on ati site latest catalyst...they are write tath radeon hd 3470
is supported by it.
well... i had download it, installed and had run aticonfig --initial and
aticonfig --initial=check. It wrote all fine, fgrlx section found. Ok... let's
restart X. Done. Try to run compiz - white
Or possibly the wrong kernel module version was loaded. Make sure you give
it a clean boot or rmmod fglrx/modprobe fglrx.
