This has been mostly fixed for the Asus n71vn with the acpi4asus asus- laptop module, which has been included in a newer version in lucid. Still, the buttons for touchpad and display have no assigned action, though they get recognised correctly. -- bluetooth, touchpad and video switch scripts

I am using Jaunty on my Asus n71vn. The event for the touchpad is 006b and for the video switch it is 0061, but they are not handled by the asus-laptop driver. Touchpad can't be disabled (Probably it's another device because of the multitouch capability), and the video switch button won't

From dapper through jaunty, the acpi-support package did include asus- a6u-touchpad with this behavior (with a different name because there's another asus-touchpad handler with a different acpi event). In karmic, it's been dropped because someone claimed it's now handled by the asus- laptop

I would be interested in these functions too, #cause I'm using an Asus W5F. Perhaps anybody could get it in for gutsy, especially the display switching function since there will be a lot of work done in the xserver config ( - hope they're not rumors). -- feature request? -- bluetooth, touchpad

Interestingly, the bug #31063, created after this one, included the *same* fix for the touchpad issue... BTW, there's no need to call it '/etc/acpi/events/asus-a6u-touchpad' we can drop the '-a6u' part from the name, as it should work with many (if not all) asus notebooks. -- bluetooth,
