APTonCD crashes

aptoncd crashed with OSError in
Hi,
to save on your valuable time as Tormod would call it:
My AptonCD bug persists. Only faster since I now use only 2 GB RAM. I
have tracked and described this behaviour with gnome-system-monitor and
Valgrind log several weeks ago, but Tormod would not look into it since
he suspected hardware
OK,
this hwinfo thing is not working to well either:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hwinfo --log /home/thomas/Desktop/hwinfo-log
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hwinfo | hwinfo --log /home/thomas/Desktop/hwinfo-log
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hwinfo | less
[1]+ Stopped hwinfo | less

Handling this is beyond my power.

Now that may be a fair remark there Kjell,
still this bug is repeatable and on a system with ubuntu repositories
only. Although many of these being from universe and/or multiverse. Also
the hardware is working correctly unless you can tell me which piece of
hardware is not and say what stress

Hi,
I have created a valgrind.log.
My BIOS settings are:
Phoenix Trusted Core (tm)
BIOS Version: v1.23
VGA BIOS Version: 1264
KBC Version: 08.26
Also look at my screenshots, have I accidentally installed the wrong
BIOS (Asus)?
Cheers,
Thomas

Sorry, I forgot to mention that all of these crashes occur without an
apport-gtk bug report being created.

I don't understand you. Did you retry what you did and recreate this very bug
(APTonCD crashing when creating the disk)? If so, what exactly did you do? How
many packages did you select?
Please note that this bug report is only about the APTonCD issue.

Hi there, I think it is impossible to describe this bug on a single bug
per bug report basis. Could you please check out my post about BIOS
settings being altered, possibly by are in relationship with the
consolekit bug(s)?
The reason I initially described this bug as a potential security risk,
Yes I did reproduce it twice. I agree this is a memory issue. Look at
the slides. I also added a series of slides about the second attempt I
did when trying to monitor the event. I want to say also that backtrace
does not work for me. Look below:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo gdb aptoncd 21 | tee

The programs I had running at the time of my second reproduction were
Firefox, gnome-terminal, gnome-system-monitor, md5sum /dev/cdrom and
deluge-torrent. You can see them in my slight-show. I tried videocapture
with Istanbul and vnc2sfw, but it did not work. The slide show should be

Thanks for taking your time to report this bug. This is a memory issue.
Did you run any other application except APTonCD? Can you try to
reprodice this error and monitor the memory behavior using gnome-system-
monitor?

Yes I reproduced it and recorded it with Istanbul, I do not know
unfortunately were the file is stored. It should be: ~/desktop-
recording.ogg. There is nothing there. Anyway, I tried it twice, but I
did not get an error report. Instead I found again that only 3 GB of
memory gets detected, while 4
