Actually, I've just noticed from your dmesg that you appear to be
running the Hardy (2.6.24-19) kernel on your installed Intrepid system
(which is when the keyboard doesn't work). Is there any reason for this,
and can you try this with the latest Intrepid kernel instead please?

Alright, I think I've isolated the problem. I previously had 8.04
installed. Before when I installed 8.10 I didn't format. This time, I
did. It appears that if you install 8.10 over 8.04 without
reformatting, it doesn't work properly.

have used the gnome device manager to detect which devices are connected. both
keyboard and mouse are detected as Logitech usb receiver but the keyboard is

Hi, I have the same problem with my s510 mouse and keyboard which was
working in 8.04.. Only I didn't install I upgraded from 8.04 to
8.10.Currently I am running the latest kernel 27.7. Is there a way that
I can fix this problem without having to start from scratch? regards.

(II) Cannot locate a core keyboard device.
And yet my keyboard and mouse work, even keys like volume control.

I'm not sure why you get those messages from the live session, because
further down the log it is correctly configuring the mouse and keyboard.
Also, HAL from the live session is showing a keyboard and mouse (whereas
it isn't on the installed system).
This is odd. I'll take a look at it further

input devices on the installed system, which is very suspect.

(CTRL+ALT+F1) and run the following:
sudo /etc/init.d/hal stop
sudo hald --verbose=yes --daemon=no 2>&1 | tee /tmp/hal.log
Once the output has settled down, press CTRL+C to exit, then could you
attach the log file to this bug

The lack of /dev/input/event* is a kernel issue I think, so re-assigning
back again. And your dmesg from the installed system is flooded with
these messages:

I am aware of that message already. Its caused by my wireless networking
adapter. Sometimes when I boot up Ubuntu, it does that, and doesn't work. Other
times it works fine. When it doesn't, I just enter:
sudo modprobe -r ehci_hcd
And it fixes it immediately.

Hi, I have the same problem with my s510 mouse and keyboard which was
working in 8.04.. Only I didn't install I upgraded from 8.04 to
8.10.Currently I am running the latest kernel 27.7. Is there a way that

I have investigated a little further, given my limited knowledge on Linux, I
have used the gnome device manager to detect which devices are connected. both
keyboard and mouse are detected as Logitech usb receiver but the keyboard is
witho

Actually, I've just noticed from your dmesg that you appear to be
running the Hardy (2.6.24-19) kernel on your installed Intrepid system
(which is when the keyboard doesn't work). Is there any reason for this,
and can you try this with the latest Intrepid kernel instead please?

Alright, I think I've isolated the problem. I previously had 8.04
installed. Before when I installed 8.10 I didn't format. This time, I
did. It appears that if you install 8.10 over 8.04 without
reformatting, it doesn't work properly.

I find it strange that the mouse and keyboard work in the live session
(I assume that is the case?). Could you please provide all of the
