I'm running server 10.04LTS, and had no problems at all with suspend
until last week. For 7 months I have been running pm-suspend-hybrid to
put the machine to sleep, and using a wake-on-lan magic packet to wake
it up again.I've never been able to use pm-hibernate, that always
resumed
Using maverick, this problem still occurs.
Unloading the xhci_hcd module via /etc/default/acpi-support doesn't make
any difference.
This bug should be now labelled urgent as there appears to be no
workaround.

Added this script:

Then, changed the two for loops from:
for driver in ohci ; do
to
for driver in uhci xhci ohci ; do

I can always suspend one time after booting. Does not seem USB-related
in my case. If I totally disable USB in the BIOS by turning off the USB
controller, suspend still resumes automatically after about 10 seconds
on the second suspend attempt.

Wake on lan by any chance?

I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 10.04 RC with all updates (up to April
24) on the motherboard M2N-MX. The suggested workaround works for me
flawlessly. I changed the script a bit and through experimentation I
found out suspend works perfectly just by disabling the OHCI ports. That
way, only USB

I see this problem as well on my PC and Ubuntu 9.10. The PC suspends
fine for the 1st time after boot, but resumes immediately after each
consequent suspend.

I have a similar problem: I need to blacklist uhci_hcd in order to get
power-saving to work properly.
I can happily live without USB 1 support on this machine, but I do need the
battery-life.
Is there any way to do this, short of rebuilding a custom kernel myself?

I fear not, but I found some related upstream bugs:

** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug
** Description changed:
The computer immediately resumes from suspend. This issue seems to be caused
by the ehci_hcd module.
A workaround is adding
SUSPEND_MODULES=ehci_hcd
to /etc/pm/config.d/modules (create file if necessary).
Though this bug is not critical (as a workaround exists),
Cannot get this to work anymore with jaunty... I also don't have any
ideas on how to debug the issue further, any clues? Part of the kernel
log regarding the suspend procedure is attached.
