(separately) on to a USB stick.

this has happened to me twice today with 10.4. I even bought another
live CD and still it happened. Infact I was trying to reinstall 10.4
after unsuccessfully upgrading via the command line. I am kinda fed up.

I was reinstalling 9.10 from CD when I got this. I actually noticed
that my previous (upgraded) 9.10 system was very unstable until I added
noapic to the kernel command line. Perhaps this is related to that
problem.

Hi.
I retried to install today and it worked.
I downloaded the 64bit-desktop-ISO today and installed in English,
this worked fine. Hardware was not changed.

You received this bug notification because
This occurred to me while doing a clean install of Xubuntu 9.10 from the
live CD. No obvious negative impact at this point, but I'm still
running off the live CD. I wasn't at the PC when installation finished,
and all I saw when I came back was the clean desktop and the Crash

Jon or anyone else experiencing this bug when using an ISO,
Can you please check that the MD5 checksum of the ISO you downloaded matches
the MD5 checksum provided on the Ubuntu website, following the instructions at

Also, can you please run the
Either this bug is the same as the others 22 dups, and hence no, the
problem is not in the ISO, either this is different and hence no, it's
not a dup.
In any of those cases, I don't see the point of making just a Confirmed
- Incomplete change.

It looks like you have a bad CD burn or faulty hardware. I suggest
burning a new copy of the CD at a slower speed, run the CD integrity
check off the CD boot menu, and then try the install again.

I have no idea if this problem still occurs with 8.10. I was using 32 bit at
the time. Looks like lots of people had this bug (from duplicates).
I eventually did install 8.10. I can barely remember this bug. Although I did
have problems installing 9.04 (crash near end of installer). But
