Yup, this seems to have been fixed now. 0) switch monitor on/boot/login/etc 1) plug my keyboard into my Dell monitor 2) open terminal on a second monitior and type - works ok 3) use sudo tail -f /var/log/monitor to monitor status of usb/etc 3) switch off Dell monitor 4) wait for syslog to log
