sorry for being quiet on this, as I've been unable to replicate the
problem until today, however I think this is a more serious issue, or
maybe a related keyboard layout problem in general.
Yesterday I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid on my works desktop (I am
assuming that the

keyboard, I didn't think that I would be able to!

the problem.
However the system hasn't remembered the setting, I'll try a reboot in a
second, and each window that opens seems to have an issue with deciding
