I'm happy (for me) to report that I'm no longer following this case
because I changed my hardware config at work and now I'm running
Intrepid with a different video card: Intel Corporation 82Q35 Express
Integrated Graphics Controller. It seems I am no loger affected by this
bug. Sorry nobody
Just wanted to say the problem appears even without heavy cpu or i/o
load. It crashed while I was reading a flashless site...
Here's some hopefully relevant output:

It gave me version 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid (from 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10).
It still crashed, about 6 hours
