I burned http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/intrepid-alternate-amd64.iso
to CD.
Then I use the CD to boot the computer.
I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and I saw >10 messages "end_request: I/O error, dev sr0,
sector x, Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block x", however,
these messages
I am downloading these two cd images now. Then I will burn them onto CD
and try them on the computer. I will post the result afterward.

Okay, so the cd should not be broken/corrupt then.
Please also test with the Alternate cd (if you can) and see if your
computer can boot from it. Perhaps we can isolate the problem to the
desktop version...

found on the 8.10 i386 cd.

Hi,
i believe those messages tries to explain there is something wrong with the cd.
When you boot the cd there is an option to test it, have you tried that to make
sure the cd or image is not broken?
