Re-closing this bug as invalid. This bug report is about lid.sh
checking for gnome-power-manager, which it /does/. Other problems
you're experiencing with gnome-power-manager in hardy should be filed as
separate bugs against gnome-power-manager.

The same problem here with Hardy + Thinkpad + Fn-F4

I'm reopening it because I just got the policy timeout message with Hardy after
a resume. My lid isn't even set to suspend...
I suspended my Thinkpad with fn-F4, so maybe the problem is in a different
script?

lid.sh
I have this problem in gutsy gibbon. I check my check policy function
from /usr/share/acpi-support/policy-funcs:
CheckPolicy() {
if pidof gnome-power-manager kpowersave /dev/null ||
(pidof dcopserver /dev/null test -x /usr/bin/dcop /usr/bin/dcop
kded kded loadedModules | grep -q
I'm closing this as invalid.
lid.sh calls CheckPolicy which does this in Hardy:
CheckPolicy() {
if pidof gnome-power-manager kpowersave /dev/null ||
(pidof dcopserver /dev/null test -x /usr/bin/dcop /usr/bin/dcop
kded kded loadedModules | grep -q klaptopdaemon) ; then
echo
I don't think this is the problem, == and = both work in this case, the
if statement does not check the return value of the command (bash
function) CheckPolicy but the stdout
from the bash manpage:
string1 == string2
True if the strings are equal. = may be used in place of
After changing the lid's behavior to Suspend there was a gnome-power-
management notification

a few seconds and try again.
There is a typo/syntax error in line 9 of /etc/acpi/lid.sh still causing
lid.sh to start its own stuff even when
I run a Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 notebook with acpi-support 0.103 and a desktop
with Dapper Drake 6.06 with acpi-support 0.85 .
I checked my desktop's /etc/acpi/lid.sh and found the == typo in it,
too.
The notebook is a Xeron 8640. Its -like several other -8640-notebooks
derived from an oem product
