> Is there anybody who can take care this
Any developer who can maintain this, please do. From what I gather, the current
developer is Thomas Winischhofer and the link in the sis man page to the sis
driver for linux project is broken (has been turned into a link farm):

well, OK, I agree. Is there anybody who can take care this actually tunrs into
a fix that will address the issue automatically?
I certainly are not able to, and I don't know how this is usually done.
Also I started noticing the white lines as well. I did'nt try watching videos

The problem is not solved as the sis driver does not auto-detect and
correct this by default As well, this does get rid of the color/snow
issue, yet there are still white horizontal lines which show up once in
a while (more frequent when watching video). Marking bug as confirmed as

Hi everybody,
after using vesa for quite some time I finally had time to try what komputes
said. Good news, it worked:)
So this seems to be the solution to this bug, just adding sisfb in /etc/modules

Hi Andreas,
Sorry, I may have assumed that you knew what I was talking about. Here
are instructions for doing what I proposed in my last comment:
1) Press Alt-F2 and run the following command (without quotes):
"gksu gedit /etc/modules"
2) The editor will open. Add the following line to the botto
OK, you gotta do two things, for I'm kind of a noob sometimes.
First, I tried to replace the sis driver with an alternative one. This didn't
work. But I can't get him to use the old driver again (so i can't even
reproduce that fuzzy thing). I had to run low-graphics mode until i found out I

Well, at least this last part i can't confirm, for i did'nt get worse on
my laptop. The vesa driver seems to work as a fallback driver for me,
however the performance is not as good as with the sis driver from 7.10,
although quite acceptable

Bryce, Both Bug #296276 & Bug# 264769 seem related to this problem. Is
there a newer sis driver upstream which may fix these issues?
>From what I gather the upsteam address for the sis driver project is here:
http://www.winischhofer.eu/linuxsispart4.shtml#download
I have tested the options above
Looks like a duplicate of Bug# 264769 even though the hardware ID's
don't seem to match.
Bryce, I'll let you mark these as duplicate if you think it is the same
issue.
Andreas, These give you a general idea of the bug. If you can please confirm
this is the problem you are having.

Hi andreas-weiden,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` too.
