Yes, the problem is still present in Lucid Lynx Alpha 3 (tested running from Desktop CD). But it has changed a bit, volume control is now working partially. After reading ALSA-Configuration.txt and digging through some similar bugs i thought i should give ac97_quirk=hp_only a try. Unfortunately this does not fix my problem. New output of alsa-info.sh showing ac97_quirk=hp_only is enabled:
