If it's still an issue in oneiric, can you please follow the fixing
broken keys section in /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt.gz and add
the info here? Thanks!

Title:
Some hotkeys don't work on
I don't know, I'm afraid. In theory it's not a function of the video
driver, but an ACPI function, so it should not actually depend on the
driver. But of course the nvidia proprietary driver could do more things
than just the actual graphics. From the udev point of view, the keymap
job is done if
This should be fixed in Oneiric but you may have flickering issues until

Brightness adjustment doesn't work when proprietary Nvidia driver (185) is
installed, because it seems it doesn't recognize the brightness applet.
I deactivated the proprietary driver, so that I've got the default free

I forgot to say that I use Ubuntu Karmic 64 bit: I don't know if the

I've tested with the nouveau driver on the latest Karmic and brightness
does not change with the function keys. It can be changed with the
brightness applet. I think this confirms that it is at least not
completely the fault of the nvidia binary driver.
