I have similar issue - when I try and read anything of my NAS (an iomega
home-NAS) which is mounted as cifs, Thunar hangs. The directory tree
has in excess of 5 files. If I close thunar and reopen, if fails to
even read my home directory. I can see the directory fine from a
command line and
Hi,
Any news on that issue? Thanks!

Title:

Hi
We got an additional drive bay in our NetApp, and also upgraded software
from v7.2.3 to v7.3.1.1 yesterday, and now, the problem with Thunar
seems to be gone.
As I upgraded my Xubuntu yesterday too, I don't know if it works due to
the NetApp upgrade or the fact that I installed an updated kern
Hi,
I have the same problem here with netapp / Xubuntu 9.04, everything work
fine with command line but Thunar hangs.
I have this message in /var/log/syslog :
Oct 7 10:36:07 kernel: [ 987.297954] CIFS VFS: Bad protocol string signature
header 4
Oct 7 10:36:07 kernel: [ 987.297969] CIFS VFS
Sadly, "pcmanfm" isn't a workaround for me as it lacks for ex. "Open
Terminal here" functionality which is VERY handy on our large share :)
But I did some more testing. As I saw, the newest ubuntu ppa kernel
(2.6.29.4) has some bugfixes within cifs, so I installed it, but Thunar
still hangs when a
This problem appears to be a Thunar issue ... I've installed "pcmanfm" a
lightweight file manager that is similar in appearance to Thunar. If I
open all Netapp shares with this file manager, I do not have any issues
at all. Non-Netapp shares operate fine (and simultaneously) with Thunar.
This is a
I'm sorry to keep commenting, but there is one other bit of information
that might be useful here:
I am able to CIFS mount other Windows XP shares on the network and
access them via Thunar without issue. This seems to indicate some
problem with the combination of Netapp + mount.cifs + Thunar
I wo
I should also point out that once this situation occurs, I also cannot
umount the share. Presumably this is because Thunar is hung and keeps it
marked as "busy"
r...@jaunty:/media# umount /media/lan/NETAPP1/Temp_Storage/
unmount error 16 = Device or resource busy
Refer to the umount.cifs(8) manual
Hello I am having a similar issue -- might be the same issue. I am on
Xubuntu 9.04 and we use a Netapp also and I think the problem may not
have anything to do with the number of files as you suggest. I am having
identical problem when trying to access CIFS shares on our Netapp
device, even when th
Since 9.04 has Xfce 4.6 and a new version of Thunar, I did not think
this should be marked a duplicate. I kept it as a separate bug, because
with the new versions, I may not be the same issue causing the problem
now. I am sure the developers will mark it as duplicate if it is.

Sorry to gainsay you but I don't think this bug is related to bug
307408.
That bug was fixed in Intrepid 8.10 and it does still work in 9.04. As I already
said I have no problems traversing and listing the mounted shares in a console
window or using Nautilus.
There's only a problem when I use Thu
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
This was a bug in Linux in Intrepid 8.10, fix-released, bug 307408
