Sukochev Roman, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD
images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an
issue still present in ubuntu 12.04
fix: get a new card reader :(

Alcor Micro Corp. Multimedia Card Reader don't work in Ubuntu
I do still actually find this a bit of a shame. It's not as if the
hardware is so esoteric that it's never had a working driver, is it?
Prior to 9.04, it worked like a charm. I loved it...! It was a
fantastic way of just connecting a card and getting quick access to
the data on it. Plus it

I think usb-storage was wrong. Instead try usb_storage in
/etc/modules. Does this work?

Maybe it doesn't work because it is not exactly the same card...

I've had a similar issue on Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid, whenever I plugged in a
SD card, nothing happens. No udev event (sudo udevadm monitor), no dmesg
entry.
From `lsusb`:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 058f:9360 Alcor Micro Corp. 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
So, it appears to be a driver issue. With modprobe
I had problem with usb flash card as well as sd card. I have an ASUS Eee PC

Linux partik-eee 2.6.35-28-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 18 18:42:20 UTC 2011

dmesg gave me something that ended with something like:
[ 2783.412065] sd 8:0:0:0:
The same issue appears also on Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat (10.10). I have
tried the proposed workarounds, but none of them worked.

it's me again :) For me the problem finally wasn't related to the card-

card, and like I said the card didn't get accepted in linux but in
