OK, I have the same version Macbook Pro. It's running an Atheros Wi-Fi
card. The standard driver for the Atheros card in your machine is
called ath9k. As there's still quite a bit of development work
happening on this driver, your best bet is to install the package
Worked fine after installing linux-backports-modules-jaunty package.
Now I can suspend the laptop, awake it, and it network manager will
correctly re-connect to the wireless network.

What version Macbook Pro do you have?
You can determine this by running:
% sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
It should tell you something like: Macbook3,1.
This is important because different version of the Macbooks have
different Wi-Fi adapters. For instance, the new unibody Macbook
