I took the liberty to confirm the bug. Here is my scenario.
I have a machine with a has one (old) IDE CD-RW connected to the (new)
SATA-only motherboard using a DeLock IDE SATA 61719 adapter. This
adapter uses the Sunplus IT, SATALink, SPIF223A-HL022 chipset. This

Wireless connection works but gues
following a solution proposed on ubuntu forums (

Seems like all is working now, except for my wireless internet connection of
course. Reading/writing from/to the 2nd hard drive (over the SPIF223A bridge)

the SPiF223A bridge) freezes the system. Needs a hard reset! (Tried W-XP
again and all works fine.) Disk utilities still shows the hdd as
/dev/sdb1 with name, serial nr, capacity... but trying to mount this

Trying to connect a 2nd hdd with this PATA-SATA bridge (SPiF223A). Hdd can be
mounted and unmounted. All tests/bench on this hdd work. System recognizes disk
and smart says it's ok. But when trying to read /write data from/to it system

Same problems with two noname adapters JAE50->SATA on two nVidia motherboards
(Zotac 9300-ITX and Zotac IONTX-A). In my case adapter start working after
forcing transfer mode to mwdma2. (To do this create file
/etc/modprobe.d/libata with flowing content
options libata force=4:noncq,mwdma2 there

I have this problem too. PATA DVD drive connected to SATA prort throu spif223a.
System startup takes ten minutes and log is filled with:
