I can confirm it apparently solved the issue. kernel Panic was not
related to HD failures. After linux-backport-modules-jaunty i kept
sharing internet with ad-hoc wireless connection and problem didn't
occurr anymore. Thanks a lot.

Thank you for sending in your bug report. I would like some more information
about this problem. Could you reboot and run memtest from the grub boot
loader and post the results here, please? Also, you can try running the
following to check your hard drive from gnome-terminal:
sudo
I already performed a
fsck -c
of my linux partition... There are bad blocks (now 'repaired'). I have the
feeling my hard disk is going to abandon me... At the same time it seems weird
to face a kernel panic and not other warnings. I'll perform a memtest when
problem pops up again.

important like upstart (init) or even the kernel itself resides on one
or more of those bad blocks anything can happen. Kernel panics due to
hard drive failure is rare, but I've seen it a couple times. I'm not
sure if there is a way
I just want to point out I'm seeing the same behavior on my Aspire One,
but occurs when the system remains idle for an extended period (3
hours). This is a new machine with a fresh install of Jaunty so I
haven't had a chance to fully troubleshoot it, but figured I point out
this may not be a
OK, that's a different story (thanks for the update). Could you confirm
it is doing the exact same thing (flashing keyboard lights, locked up,
etc)? If it is, are they the same lights flashing? Do you see the
kernel panic or does it hang in X in such a way you cannot see the
panic? Can you,
limaxray, can you make sure you run the same diagnostics and post the
results, please? Thank you.
