If I pkill indicator in Lucid empathy icon appear in the notification
are and when I reload indicator-messages the icon disappears, So I
believe its fixed.

in the same way in lucid if rhythmbox is running and i delete indicator-
applet from session and then again add indicator applet to panel there
is no icon for rhythmbox unless i restart rhythmbox

I'm not so sure this is an Empathy bug. Since when the Indicator Applet
crashes, there's no way to get empathy back without re-loading the
application. What the indicator applet needs is support to bring back
original tray icons if it crashes and hide them away when it's brought
back.. Currently

didn't see anything from apport, just momentary lockup followed by the
symptoms described. haven't been able to reproduce it, the error only
happened the one time.
