It looks like it's a problem with swapfiles and hibernation, I don't
think Ubuntu officially supports them, so you can close the bug.

The boot starts with the white Ubuntu logo on black screen, then it
stalls and it shows only a cursor in the top-left of the screen. It is a
problem since I upgraded from Jaunty, I forgot about it for a while
because I have not this problem while using the 2.6.31-02063101-generic
