weird, in 10.04 (64 with amd chip and nvidia chipset) it worked just
fine. then i took my laptop apart, put it back together, and then from
then on i had to hit the wireless button when i started up. i'd hit it
and a few seconds later my wireless would come on. this was still with
10.04.
now,
I can confirm this is similar on my CQ50-100EM. After boot, I always
have to press the wireless button to enable it. The light then flickers
between orange and blue. I thought it might be network activity, but it
might not be.

I've done some minor investigation and it seems that while the LED is
blue, my wifi is connected at 48Mb/s (according to 'iwconfig'). After a
while of being idle it drops to 1Mb/s and the LED turns orange. If I
use the network again (e.g. ping), then speed returns to 48Mb/s and the
LED turns
When it was working, for me at least, the light in the button was blipping
between blue and orange as a sign of network activity, but the same
light-button for wifi on/off function doesn't do anything. I think there is a
hardware bug in either the button or the AR5007 wifi adapter, since there
