Implemented the Direct url for this download link under the big
download button on desktop and server download pages. Which updates
dynamically when the user changes the release and bit-version drop-

Updates dynamically sounds like you are still, or again, using
JavaScript. Pretty please, make this work for browsers with no
JavaScript support, or with the JavaScript support turned off. That's

fixed. I now have a plain link (a href=) where I can do Copy Link
Location, and paste the URL in a terminal for wget/curl, and thus
download on a different machine or with a different download program.

I've pushed code and proposed it for merging that creates a GET method
that can be used as well as some javascript example code that will show
the dowload link on the page. The steps for getting this to production
are not hard but there are a few steps. Therefore you'll have to
schedule this in.

publicized. If instead of POSTing to http://www.ubuntu.com/start-
download you make a GET request to it then it will bounce you to a
mirror near you. At that point you can choose a distro and a CD image to
download.
It would be
Is there a reason why 'start-download' doesn't allow a GET request? If
it did, we could easily swap the button for a link.

I don't know why this was changed from Confirmed to Invalid, but the bug
still exists and is annoying. The page does not give a download link, it
starts immediately, and even then doesn't give a download link.
When installing a new VM on a server, I had to jump to hoops to get the
URL to be able
This is a valid use-case, especially for server scenarios.
