I am also having this problem. I suspect it may have something to do with Pulse Audio but not sure. When recording in Audacity in Karmic the system becomes unresponsive. And sluggish. Remenicent of the Firefox Pulse Audio Video lag back in the early days of Pulse Audio. -- [Karmic] Xorg eats
