I have a similar issue on Dell Inspiron 5150 (ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility
video, not the NVidia variant). Choosing Suspend to disk or ram causes
suspend to begin, but after backlight is switched off, the fan comes on
full blast and nothing more happens. Suspend is not successful in any
case.
Revert
Recent updates, notably 2.6.15-26 fixed this issue for my Thinkpad T43
(1871-W34).

I can confirm that with the upgrade from Breezy -> Dapper many Thinkpad
models (T40, T41, T42 and X40) that had fully functioning suspend to
disk working no longer work. As of the latest updates, I still don't
have it reliably working, although it works on every fifth or sixth
attempt.

I can confirm there is a bug with 2.6.15-25/26 on an IBM T20. 2.6.15-23
works fine, using APM. Is there a status update? Machine starts to
suspend, HDD spins down, however mouse never stops responding, moon LED
is never turned on and backlight never goes off. Any information needed
can be provided.
Is this bug still being worked on? Because suspend/resume still does
not work on my T41p. I've tried not unloading nsc-ircc on suspend, but
that doesn't help. tried with 2.6.15-26.45 and 2.6.15-26.46 i386 and
i686 images. I've also just tried never loading the nsc-ircc modules.

Confirmed on Thinkpad T40:
2.6.15-23-386 suspended/resumed well.
2.6.15-25-386 does not fully suspend. Moon LED lights, battery LED remains lit,
Caps-lock LED still toggles in this state, machine will not wake. Hibernate
also fails and power must be forced off to reboot.

Does anybody know how one can monitor the dmesg output when the machine

I'm still experiencing a whole collection of oddball symptoms on my T60p
(with latest ubuntu dapper kernel, latest ATI-released fglrx driver,
LVM, and SATA), including:
* Suspend to disk seems to work, but in the boot sequence where it's
supposed to restore from disk, it just barrels ahead and doe

I confirm that laptop HP nc8000 does not wake after suspend-to-disk in
edgy beta 2.6.17-10.33. The suspend part seems to work fine. The power
light goes into blinking mode, indicating that the laptop is in suspend

Fresh install 6.10 on Toshiba Tecra M2 with 2GB RAM. Kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
Very first suspend resulted in screen blanking, and then after 10 second of

The latest kernel sometimes kills the network connectivity after
hibernating or sleeping on a TP X41 and a TP T41. ifconfig does not show
any network interfaces apart from loop. A reboot fixes it. I don't like

I used to be able to suspend and hibernate with 6.10, but after
installing the nVidia drivers, I can no longer resume from suspend or
hibernate...the screen comes back up, I can move the mouse cursor
around, but it remains black and I can't do anything but hard reboot the
machine. This is on a Dell
Suspend-to-RAM successfully suspends the computer, but it fails to
resume. I am left with a blank screen (no hard drive activity) and no
backlight.
Suspend-to-disk fails more than it succeeds. Though, I've had luck with it on
occasion.

has a very serious impact
I can confirm there is a bug with 2.6.15-25/26 on an IBM T20. 2.6.15-23
works fine, using APM. Is there a status update? Machine starts to
suspend, HDD spins down, however mouse never stops responding, moon LED
is never turned on and backlight never goes off. Any information needed
can be provided.
Is this bug still being worked on? Because suspend/resume still does
not work on my T41p. I've tried not unloading nsc-ircc on suspend, but
that doesn't help. tried with 2.6.15-26.45 and 2.6.15-26.46 i386 and
i686 images. I've also just tried never loading the nsc-ircc modules.

But I think it behaves a bit irregularily... sometimes suspending
actually has worked... sometimes it doesn't suspend, but most often
doesn't wake up. Hibernation I haven't tried much, but it didn't work
when I did (according to your description).

I have a T43 2686-DGU and all of my problems where solved with the ACPI
fix 2 months ago (I think). My machine suspends to RAM and resumes
correctly 100% of the time. As a side note suspend also works 100%
with both the 'ati' driver and 'fglrx'. fglrx had given me grief in the
past. Also, the
I have a T43 1871-W34 and just like David my problems got solved with the
previous fixes.
My acpi-support is a little different however:
SAVE_VBE_STATE=true
#ACPI_SLEEP=true is commented
I also had issues with a proprietary module. Please, check carefully
that your kernel is not tainted.

anything upon resume (Scroll Lock could be twiddled, though).
I made these two edits to /etc/default/acpi-support:
1. Uncomment ACPI_SLEEP=true
2. Change to SAVE_VBE_STATE=false

I'm still experiencing a whole collection of oddball symptoms on my T60p
(with latest ubuntu dapper kernel, latest ATI-released fglrx driver,
LVM, and SATA), including:
* Suspend to disk seems to work, but in the boot sequence where it's
supposed to restore from disk, it just barrels ahead and doe

The problem with suspend to disk appears to be that it hoses my LVM2
swap partition and at boot I see

The swap partition is unusable until I run mkswap on it again. Another

Thinkpad T43 1871-W34 and also an R52 still experience the same bug.
They half-suspend (fan still on and reactive to SysRQ) most of the time
(sometimes just work fine!).

I have a similar issue on Dell Inspiron 5150 (ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility
video, not the NVidia variant). Choosing Suspend to disk or ram causes
suspend to begin, but after backlight is switched off, the fan comes on
full blast and nothing more happens. Suspend is not successful in any
case.
