You could create the actual key in gconf by typing the following command
in terminal
gconftool --type bool -s /apps/epiphany/extensions/smart-
bookmarks/dictionarysearch/open_in_tab true
and voila! smart bookmarks in new tabs!

I've used that command myself to fix the behavior, but it should be the
default behavior.

if the key does not exist that's because the upstream schemas doesn't
list it. And no, we are not going to change the default over upstream.
As stated upstream I think a new window makes sense, that's the easier
way to interact with was is opened

Thanks for your bug. The suggestions about design decisions are better
placed upstream since we are not likely to take a decision for them and
don't want the same application behaving differently on Ubuntu than
other distributions or than upstream. I've forwarded that upstream:
I don't suggest that the current page be replaced. That would be
terrible. I just think that the results should be opened in a new tab.
It makes more sense that way, for reasons I talk about in a comment in
the upstream bug.

Changed to epiphany-extensions, as Smart Bookmarks is an extension.
This does not necessarily have to be fixed upstream, as it can also be
turned off and on with a gconf setting
/apps/epiphany/extensions/smart-bookmarks/dictionarysearch/open_in_tab
is a boolean setting that the Smart Bookmarks
13 matches
