You could create the actual key in gconf by typing the following command in terminal gconftool --type bool -s /apps/epiphany/extensions/smart- bookmarks/dictionarysearch/open_in_tab true and voila! smart bookmarks in new tabs! -- Look up with smart bookmarks opens results in new window

Changed to epiphany-extensions, as Smart Bookmarks is an extension. This does not necessarily have to be fixed upstream, as it can also be turned off and on with a gconf setting /apps/epiphany/extensions/smart-bookmarks/dictionarysearch/open_in_tab is a boolean setting that the Smart Bookmarks
