Hi,
I am sorry to have set this bug incomplete again - it was incomplete
until now (for me) for I suddenly noticed this issue now (for about an
hour, exactly). I could mount CDs w/o problems, but no USB sticks.
I tried all the workarounds mentioned here (and elsewhere) but no
success. Then I read

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the

update so its kernel version -12 with which everything is fine
and -13 where it doesnt work
also another effect of this bug is that wheni boot in -13 and this mounting
problem occurs then if i click shut down/restart i get thrown out to the gdm
screen where i can select account to login with
and
hmm update. i am getting this bug again.
it occurs with all external harddisks, pen drives, interal harddisks (like my
windows partition).
nautilius shows all these drives but gives error in mounting hence cant
open them.
one workaround is that always when starting the system if i select the ear
after restarting everything works normally.
must have been some transient thing.
