Support calls from people buying machines with Ubuntu pre-installed
declined 30% after we made this change just on the machines being
shipped through OEM's. People who are trying to get online were
clearly preferring wifi, and unable to find the network indicator unless
it looked like wifi.
Mark,
How is that possible?[declined support calls] Has Lucid been shipping in OEM
already?
or are the ubuntu-mono icons been shipping for a longer time than that it has
been available in Lucid? [Just a bit confused :-) ]

No network icon in panel shouldn't figure a wireless connection if I
It's not the mono icons particularly, it's the use of the wifi icon to
represent the network. For most people who have a wifi card, wifi
represents the network.
However, in the case where there is absolutely no wifi card present, it
can't really represent the network. We don't have a really
Mark , right. I think we both are mentioning the same thing , as is this bug.
Which asks to name the icons as was done in Karmic Humanity[which is probably
the reason for the reduced support calls ;-)]
I agree that the current icon is a poor metaphor for network , pls see Bug
#532522 .
Yes , this is a problem in ubuntu-mono , it has too many monochrome
icons/symlinks .

No network icon in panel shouldn't figure a wireless connection if I
seems to have the same icon for nm-no-connection.svg and network-
offline.svg whereas they were different in humanity-icon-theme.

It's the same thing as a previous bug with humanity, which was solved by
