This bug is not yet fixed. One more thing needs to happen. The vdpau-
video package needs to be rebuilt. Some of the builds failed on certain

I'found finally the package and vaifo seems to work.
I've made a test with a hd file :
mplayer : 8% of my processor
vlc with overlay and gpu accelleration enabled : 40-60 %

i've checked vainfo
libva: libva version 0.31.0
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/nvidia_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns -1
vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit
It doesn't work for me with a gtx 460 ans nvidia 256.44 drivers forum

Also, VLC_1.1.1-1exp1ubuntu1 does not need the package libvdpau1.
For correct operation of this VLC you also need the FFMPEG packages from the
maverick repos (v. 4:0.6-2ubuntu2).
It does not work
Which graphic card do you have and which driver do you use?

This version doesn't seem to work on my system. I'm running maverick with the
