You may be affected by one or both of: Bug #63989 Bug #123224 (the later
almost certainly).

I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that. You have it correct.
When I boot the system with the card in, the system recognizes the
card and it locks up.
The system boots fine without the card in, and once booted, the card
isn't recognized (I don't think - I can't use the card, anyhow).

Just to clarify.
It appears you don't get a system lockup when you insert the Orinoco PCMCIA
card into fully booted system (as described in the original bug description)

When the card is inserted you can't use it ???
You can't boot-up if the Orinoco PCMCIA card is inserted ???
